Sizes, capacities and the parts of a tank.
Nominal capacities as published for each range. Gallons are imperial gallons. Sizes outside these tables can be fabricated as custom tanks.
Pressed steel tanks.
Panels 1220 mm (4 ft). Plan size is length × breadth in feet. Identical for all four steel ranges.
Plate counts and empty tank weights are not listed here. Ask for them with your enquiry.

SMC / FRP and stainless steel.
Metric panels 1 m × 1 m and 1 m × 0.5 m. Same nominal sizes and capacities for SMC/FRP and stainless steel.
Weights shown for 3 m and 4 m depths are for SMC tanks and are approximate. Gallons for 1 m and 2 m depths are calculated as litres × 0.22.

Parts of a sectional tank.
- Tank panel
- Hydraulically pressed flanged panel, 1 m × 1 m or 4 ft × 4 ft (also 1 m × 0.5 m in SMC and stainless); the building block of the tank.
- Cover / roof
- Pressed cover panels (1.5 mm in steel ranges) with manhole and insect-proof vent.
- Stays
- Internal or external horizontal and diagonal bracing that keeps the tank rigid up to the maximum operating level.
- Cleats
- Brackets (A, B, C1, C2) in mild or stainless steel that join stays and panels.
- Roof truss
- Support structure for the tank cover.
- Perimeter angle
- Angle section running around the tank perimeter.
- RC plinth / I-beam
- Concrete plinth or I-beam the tank sits on; buyer-supplied plinths at 1000 mm centres.
- Skid base
- Primer-coated or galvanised mild steel base for SMC tanks on RC plinths.
- Manhole
- 600 mm square access opening, lockable option available.
- Vent
- 100 mm insect-proof (vermin-proof) air vent.
- Level indicator
- Mechanical ruler-type indicator with float, cable and pointer; direct-reading PVC tube optional on stainless tanks.
- Sealant
- Non-toxic PVC foam strips and butyl putty gum (or rubber bitumen strips) at panel joints.
- DFT
- Dry film thickness of a coating, in microns.
- HDG
- Hot-dip galvanised.
- HDPE
- High density polyethylene.
- SMC
- Sheet moulding compound (fibreglass-reinforced polyester).
